Apply Paint Like A Pro

Apply Paint like a Pro!
Everything you'll need for a top finish can be found at your Colourplus store. But it can be a tad confusing being confronted with brushes in sizes from 25 to 100 mm. Here are some pointers:
Use a 50mm paintbrush when you need greater control or fine-line results. The 75mm brush is a quicker tool for those larger surfaces where you're not using a roller.
For painting woodwork, try a sash brush. It's designed to paint the fine edges.
Applying flat or low-sheen paint? A 12mm-pile roller is ideal for the task.
Where you're aiming for a textured-looking surface, use a thicker, 'fluffier' roller such as the 20mm-pile.
Are you worried about the safety of standing high on a ladder, painting? Try a roller extension. It's far easier to manoeuvre than a ladder.

What to do First?
Whether it's an exterior or interior job, start at the top and work down. Outside, that means fascias, gutters and bargeboards come first. Inside it's ceilings first, then cornices, then walls. When you've progressed down to the skirting boards, then go back up to paint those one-off things like shelves and cupboards.
If you're right-handed and you're painting walls, always start at the top right-hand corner. If you're left-handed, start at the top left.
